8. Alcazar – 12 million records sold
Nu-disco is a genre that draws inspiration from 1970s disco, 1980s dance music and 1990s electronic music. Alcazar is one of the most successful nu-disco bands to ever emerge , as shown by how they managed to sell over 12 million records. They had a short reunion with the goal of performing at a special event in 2020. However, Alcazar is now mostly disbanded.
7. Dr. Alban – 14 million records sold
Dr. Alban is the stage name of Alban Uzoma Nwapa. In terms of music, his work is reminiscent of dancehall, Eurodance, hip hop and reggae. However, it is interesting to note that Dr. Alban is also a successful producer with his own label called Dr. Records. The fact that he has sold millions and millions of records should make the extent of his success very clear.
6. The Cardigans – 15 million records sold
The Cardigans formed in the early 1990s, went on hiatus from the mid-2000s to the early 2010s, then continued through the late 2010s. There aren’t many rock bands that have been as prolific as the Spotnicks. After all, they started in 1958 and continued until 2019. During that time, the Spotnicks have released 43 albums, which has seen them sell over 18 million records during their career. In addition to this, the group is also known for other reasons. Avicii was the stage name of Tim Bergling, who was both a DJ and a music producer. Roxette is a pop rock duo made up of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle. Both were established musical artists before forming the duo. However, the two together have sold 75 million records, making them one of the best-selling musical artists in Sweden and beyond. Roxette was active on and off from 2002 to 2019. This was because Fredriksson was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2002, which ultimately claimed his life in 2019.
